Daffodil

New beginnings, rebirth, and prosperity

The first bright thing after winter. A daffodil does not wait for permission, and neither do you.

The March birth flower is the daffodil, along with its close relative the jonquil. It stands for new beginnings, rebirth, and prosperity.

Daffodil

Daffodils are among the first bulbs to bloom each spring, with six petals around a bright central trumpet. Their botanical name is Narcissus, which quietly links March to the December birth flower.

Jonquil

Jonquil, the second March birth flower

Jonquils are a type of daffodil with smaller, strongly scented flowers, several to a stem, and slim rounded leaves.

As a gift

Give a whole bunch rather than a single stem. Old folklore says one daffodil brings bad luck, while a bunch brings joy. More birth flower gift ideas.

As a tattoo

A daffodil's trumpet shape stands out even at a small size, and it looks lovely as a single rising stem. More birth flower tattoo ideas.
